Salidar’s eyes were drawn to one particular pillar, the largest and most infamous; it was known as the pillar of Ibrix. As far as Salidar was concerned, the bigger the pillar the bigger the demon and the better his chances of destroying Neredos with it.
The company is mobilizing for deployment, and will be waiting to descend as soon as we receive word that Salidar has made his move. But Prism thinks they should move now.
Releasing the demons involves inscribing rune circles, an ancient form of Gor magic, Salidar needs time to get those in place, especially since he will be doing it as subtly as he can manage.
Styx goes to meet The Oracle who offers him advice and an alternative way of thinking about his personal dilemma. They then meet King Neredos who also wants to thwart Salidar’s plans to release the demons.
Dogo tells Maxthane of another way to the surface, but they have to cross the Black Lake. They approach the gladiators to join them in their quest to prevent Sakidars releasing the demons.
The Oracle heals Prism of his injuries. At the Hall of Justice, Styx meets The Grand Inquisitors. The meeting does not go well. Afterwards, Styx takes a bath, something he is not used to.
Maxthane refuses to help his father, Salidar, release the demons. Determined to stop him he consults an old leather-bound manual to work the magic that will let him evade the guards so he can free, and enlist the help of Grim.
Lady Alsha sets out to find evidence that Sabreeza is harbouring a demon and meets Styx. They plan to make an assault on his stronghold and find Fasha being held prisoner.
The Fedain, Grim, meets a demon in the arena. Maxthane is furious with his father, Salidar, for forcing Grim to fight for his life. Max tries again to contro, the demon but it has become much stronger and it resists his attempts.
Prism tells Styx his story of the war against the demons eight hundred years ago and how he became trapped within a pillar. As they continue their journey they encounter Dogo who intends to take them back to Saildar. However Styx tries to persuade him otherwise.
