A Living Morgue by David Heulfryn

This was a haiku I wrote many years ago after I went to visit my grandmother in the hospital. She was in a geriatric ward with five other very old ladies. The sight had a profound effect on me, it appeared that they were all just waiting for death.

A bay of six beds
Aged occupants lie and sit, still
A living morgue
