Brothers Back in Bed
by David Heulfryn

Finn wanted to wait until Max came home but fell asleep while snuggling up to his Dad. Lily told Owen to wake him gently and send him off to bed. Finn didn’t complain. He knew how tired he was and went upstairs. He considered just getting into bed without brushing his teeth but thought better of it.

Finn sighed as he slipped under his duvet. It was still early, barely seven o’clock, but it had been a busy weekend, and he had already exhausted himself at the lake. He looked over at Max’s empty bed and wished he was home. He turned onto his side and tucked his duvet under his chin.

Max got home before eight o’clock and noticed his father sitting naked in the front room, and his mother was in her nightie.

“Is everything okay, Max?” Lily asked as she noticed how tired he looked.

“Fine, Mum. I just feel shattered. It’s been a long day.” Max looked around the room, “Where’s Finn?”

“He’s in bed, Sweetie.” Lily smiled, “He was so tired he fell asleep cuddling your Dad. They looked so sweet.”

“I’ll be off too,” Max told them.

“Try not to wake your brother up,” Owen told Max, “I think the weekend did the impossible and actually tired him out.”

Max smiled. “I’ll be as quiet as a mouse. Night Dad, Night Mum.”

“Goodnight, Sweetie.” Lily smiled.

When Max was upstairs, Owen turned to his wife and lowered his voice. “I was hoping he’d tell us what he’d decided. I thought after seeing his boyfriend, he would have come back with his mind made up.”

“So did I, Dear. But we shouldn’t push him.”

“I know, Love. I know.” Owen sighed.

Max went into the bathroom and took off his clothes. He didn’t want to go into his bedroom and risk disturbing his brother. He neatly folded his clothes and brushed his teeth. He saw Finn’s toothbrush in the glass on the shelf and looked beside him where Finn would usually be when they brushed their teeth together. Max had hoped Finn would be awake when he got home. He wanted to talk to him, tell him how it went with James.

He held his clothes and crept along the hall. Max gingerly turned the door handle, trying not to make creek. It didn’t, and he slowly pushed the door open. The only sound was the door rubbing against the carpet as it opened.

Finn stirred and groaned, “Is that you, Max?” He slurred.

“Yes, Min.” Max closed the door and put his clothes on their desk.

“Will you sleep with me tonight?” Finn groaned, half asleep, “I want to feel your arms around me.”

“Of course, Min.” Max carefully got into Finn’s bed. Finn shifted over to allow Max some space.

Finn groaned and snuggled against Max as he felt his arms envelop him.

“Do you feel like talking, Min?” Max whispered in Finn’s ear.

“I’ve been waiting for you to get home. I wanted to know how it went with James.”

“It went well. James was so pleased to see me. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.”

Finn chuckled, “Did you actually do any talking or just get each other off.” Finn could feel Max’s cock thicken as it pressed against the cleft of his buttocks.

“Well, we went to his bedroom, and he put a chair against the door so his brother wouldn’t burst in on us. He was hard the moment he saw me, and I virtually ripped his clothes off. I wish we could have taken our time, but James came so quickly.”

“Did you suck him off again?” Finn asked and felt Max’s cock get even bigger.

Max lay silent a moment. “I did.” He whispered. “Feeling him in me was amazing. I swallowed.” Max admitted.

Behind him, Finn could feel Max’s cock poke him and leak precum. He wiggled his arse and made Max moan.

“Don’t, Min.” Max gasped, he didn’t want to cum between his brother’s buttocks, but unless he steered the conversation away from his sex life, then it was going to be inevitable. “Have Mum and Dad spoken to you? Asked about me?”

“They did. I said that it’s up to you to tell them what you think and if you’ve decided anything. They think you’ve told me, or at least that I know something.”

“Sorry about that. It puts you in a difficult position, but I’m glad you’ve not said anything. As soon as I saw James, I… “ Max faltered, a lump formed in his throat. “The moment I saw him, I didn’t want to leave him. Everything I was sure of changed.”

“You’ve not changed your mind, have you?” Finn asked.

“I did.” Max sighed. “A big part of me doesn’t want to leave him, but we talked. I told James about our long weekend. He was jealous that I got to train with the team, and I told him about all the stuff they gave me. He wished he was with me.”

“It was fantastic. I’ve never seen you play better. It was like you got a new lease of life.”

“I told James about the town. He knew a little about it but not a lot. He was surprised at how normal it was. We talked for hours.” Max sighed.

Finn let the silence grow between them. He knew that Max was thinking. Finn didn’t want to show Max how upset he was getting. Finn tried his best, but he couldn’t screw his eyes tightly enough to prevent a lonely tear from falling down his cheek. He desperately wanted to move to Cockaigne, and it was all down to Max. After seeing James, it sounded like he was wavering. He’d changed his mind. He wanted to stay. He couldn’t handle a long-distance relationship with James. Despite the sudden change, Finn didn’t want to blame Max. But he still felt like his dream life had been taken away from him.

“James made me think about my life. I talked about you and Mum and Dad. What would happen if we moved, and what would happen if we didn’t move. Thought about how each scenario would affect you.”

Finn found listening to Max painful. He didn’t want to hear all this. He just needed to be put out of his misery and be told that they weren’t going to move. He dared not speak in case his cracking voice betrayed his feelings. He felt like running. He wanted to be alone. Max’s arms now felt like the bars of a prison. Keeping him in place. He wanted to run into the bathroom and ball his eyes out. More tears escaped.

“James has been brilliant, Min. I love him so much.”

Finn had to sniff back a few tears. He didn’t want to know that Max loved James more than his family. More than him.

“He showed me the bigger picture, and although we’d be apart physically, we wouldn’t stop loving each other, and we wouldn’t stop seeing each other. If it was meant to be, moving wouldn’t stop us.”

What did that mean? Finn thought. His stomach lurched. He didn’t want to get his hopes up again, only to be brought down to earth with a heavy bump. Despite being warm under the duvet, he felt the goosebumps on his skin. It didn’t go unnoticed.

“Min? You’ve gone all cold.” Max rubbed his hand over Finn’s arms, feeling the tiny bumps under his fingertips. He tried to warm him up. “Are you alright, Min?”

Those words broke through Finn’s defences, and he started crying.

“What’s wrong?” Max held his brother tight. “Why are you so upset, Min?”

Finn hated himself. He hated that he felt this way. He had agreed that no matter what Max decided, he would support him, and now he found himself only thinking about himself and how disappointed he was. He knew he was being selfish. He was perfectly happy with his life. But that tiny glimpse of life in Cockaigne made him think how much happier he could be, and Max was taking that away. Finn didn’t hate Max. He just hated himself.

“Min, talk to me, please.” Max was concerned. He was worried about his younger brother. He’d been so happy when they got home, and now he was crying in bed. “Min?” Max felt a few tears emerge from his own eyes. “Please.” Max pleaded with Finn.

Finn took a deep breath, trying to compose himself, but it only half worked as his voice still cracked as he spoke. “I’ll get over it, Max. Just give me time. I’m just so disappointed, I wanted it so much, but I’ll get over it.”

Max was confused. “Get over what? Have Mum and Dad said something?”

“No.” Finn sniffed and could taste his salty tears. They hadn’t stopped. “They’ve said nothing.”

“So what’s happened?” Max squeezed his brother in his arms, trying to console him. “What’s got you so upset?”

“You’ve changed your mind.” Finn croaked through his tears, “But that’s alright. I said I wouldn’t pressure you, and I won’t. I’ll be fine in the morning. Did you tell Mum and Dad when you got home?”

“Changed my mind? You mean about moving to Cockaigne?” Max was confused.

“Yes.” Finn started to cry again.

“I’ve not changed my mind, Min. I told you last night I’d decided.” Max reassured his brother.

“But what about James?” Finn sniffled, “After seeing him, you weren’t sure.”

“I admit, I had a wobble when I first saw him. But I didn’t change my mind. In fact, James helped, and he actually said I would be stupid not to. He knows how much it will do me good, and he also knows how much it means for the family.”

“So we’re still moving?” Finn sniffed.

“Yes,” Max said categorically.

Finn leapt from his arms and straddled his brother, who was now lying on his back. Finn’s eyes were red and puffed from crying, but his face smiled so wide that it almost hurt.

“Thank you, thank you, Max. I love you so much!” Finn gabbled, reached down, held Max’s head, and kissed him all over, from forehead to chin. Finn couldn’t believe it. They were moving to Cockaigne. Max was the best brother in the world, and he’d never forget what he’d done for him. As Finn tired of kissing his brother, he collapsed on top of him. He rested his head on Max’s chest and pushed his arms around his back, sliding between the mattress and Max’s back. The duvet lay on the floor. Finn’s body covered Max, his smooth white arse exposed. Finn got his goosebumps back, but this time from the cool air.

Max wrapped his arms around Finn. They stayed motionless for a moment.

“I feel so silly,” Finn whispered. “I jumped to conclusions.”

“No, Min. I’m sorry. I didn’t think about what I was saying. I didn’t think how it sounded.” Max sighed. “There’s only one thing you need to apologise for, Min.”

“What’s that?”

“Slobbering all over my face.” Max laughed, “Promise me you’ll never do that again?”

Finn looked up into Max’s eyes. “I can try, but I won’t promise.”

Max could feel the goosebumps on Finn’s backside and arms. “Let’s get back under the duvet. It’s getting cold.”

Finn slid off his naked brother and pulled the duvet back over their bodies. They settled back and lay on their sides, Max back spooning Finn.

Finn snuggled back against his brother. “Have you told Mum and Dad?”

“No,” Max said. “I’ll tell them in the morning.”

“Good.” Finn sounded drowsy. The emotions had taken their toll.

“I’m sorry I scared you, Min,” Max whispered.

“I’m just glad we’re moving.” Finn slurred his words.

“I love you so much, Min. I would do anything for you.”

“I love you too, Max.”

Finn drifted off to sleep while Max held him safe. Max was furious with himself for making him feel so bad unnecessarily.

“I love you, Min,” Max whispered into his ear and was treated to a soft groan in reply.

  1. I am glad Max made the decision to go for the move to Cockaigne. Deep in his heart he will know it is the best thing to do for the entire family. James will probably be able to visit lots of times.

    Thanks for the update
