100 Marriage Equality Blogs

Hi Readers. It’s been sometime since I have updated the blog. Today I want to raise awareness of Joseph Atkins’ (of the gay dating website) efforts to raise awareness of the progress of marriage equality. He has got together 100 links to blogs which I know you will find interesting – I certainly did. Some are great and very enlightening. The link is below, so go ahead and check them out.

Cookies & Privacy

You may have noticed something new on Screeve. To comply with new EU regulations I have to get your consent for my website to place cookies on your computers. I think my server is located outside the EU but I am definitely based inside the EU. So just to be sure I comply I have added the little JavaScript to gain your consent for me to use cookies.

I am not highly technical and as far as I am aware the only cookies I use are from StatCounter to provide usage statistics for the website. No personal data is collected. It does log your location and IP address but these details are not stored for very long (one month at most).

As part of these new regulations I have also added a Cookie Policy and a Privacy Policy. Basically it says that I will not use your email address (for those that email me) for any use other than direct contact. I will not pass it on to anyone else or use it to spam you.

You can also turn cookies on or off at anytime.

This shouldn’t impact too much on your enjoyment of the site. Once you have minimised the notice or turned off cookies then the icon should just sit on the bottom left of the screen, but if you do find it persistently maximised and annoying then please let me know and I will look at using another method.

Screeve-Varda is Back!

I know a lot of you are disappointed that the blogs are gone, to be honest I am too. I really enjoyed bringing you the selection of pictures but the time it took me was starting to become a problem; I couldn’t get anything else done.

I was also becoming more and more concerned about staying legal. On top of that there is the issue of private pictures that were never meant to be shared are now rampant on the internet. I felt it was about time I became a responsible webmaster and not use any material without the copyright holder’s permission. I know there is a “fair use” provision but I don’t honestly think that the blogs would come under it.

So, I was now stuck with some web space that I wasn’t using. And then the idea came to me. Why not combine the stories with the affiliate pictures I can legally use.

And that is now what we have. You can enjoy the stories and and enjoy the pictures. The pictures are shown smaller on the pages but if you right-click and show picture then you will get it full size. All links from the pictures lead to the affiliate so if you choose to join the web site then I will get a little money, which I will use to cover costs for my websites.

My initial thoughts were to use pictures that matched the story but that became difficult if not impossible as the stories are not written with a picture series in mind. So I have used pictures that approximate to the action in the story.

I’ve started off with three short stories of mine but I hope to add more stories (and pictures) as time goes on.

I hope you enjoy this new version of Screeve-Varda and please feel free to let me know what you think.

Screeve Goes Mobile

I might be a little late in adopting new technology but I have finally accepted mobile technology. So if you want to read Screeve while on the move then try the new Screeve Mobile site. It is a much simplified version of Screeve and I have tested it on my own smartphone, a Samsung thingy. I can’t check how it looks on other devices so please let me know what it looks like or if it looks odd. I haven’t converted all stories yet but I have done all the latest stories. I will be converting the rest over the coming weeks and months.

Trials & Tribulations by Billy

Two weeks ago I started posting a new story by a new author. Trials and Tribulations is set in Pine Hills, a small mining town in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. The story is about Andy Collins who has to deal with his sexuality, while at the same time, he and his friends must also confront abuse and murder.

New chapters will be posted regularly so you won’t have to wait too long for the next installment.

New Screeve Author – Andrew Davis

Sorry I’ve been away for so long but I’ve just getting over the holiday season, which is a busy time for me. I’m grateful to have found time to introduce a new author and a new story to Screeve this month; I had feared it wouldn’t be until next month.

Andrew Davis come to Screeve with a good pedigree as both a Nifty author and a resident author at gayauthors.org. I hope you enjoy his story, ‘The Journey of Jacob and Kyle’, which will unfold over the coming weeks.

‘The Screwed Up Life of Charlie the Second’ by Drew Ferguson

No freebie this time, this is the debut novel of Drew Ferguson and published by Kensington Books.

Charlie is a tall and gangly big-eared teenager who is out and trying to navigate himself through high school and his first boyfriend.

As the title suggests he screws up quite a bit and his relationship with his boyfriend Rob is far from smooth. Rob has his own problems, his mother suffers from a chronic and debilitating disease. While Charlies parents decide to separate.

It is written is a diary format which makes it personal and accessible. The writing is fluid and reads from the hand of an awkward teenager, I suspect Drew was one himself. There are some humourous moments, some of which made me laugh out loud, which is very unusual for me when reading a book.

‘Dressing Up’ by Todd Young

Todd Young has become a somewhat guilty pleasure of mine; his second self-published novel is another I downloaded free from Amazon.

Dressing Up begins with Skipper trying to rent a fancy dress costume for a college party. Young’s obsession with well hung guys continues as Skipper struggles to contain his above average equipment in the costume.

During the party he meets Lake who later becomes Skipper’s roomate. Skipper is obsessed with Lake and wants nothing more than to sleep with him but Lake claims to be straight.

As I’d come to expect from Todd Young there is plenty of sex and college guys showing off their equipment.

But I did find myself empathising with Skipper’s anguish, a cute, naive country boy. He is so sweet.

‘Corrupted’ by Todd Young

You remember my last post about some eBooks being offered for free, well was one of them. I’ve checked now and it seems that the author is charging £1.92 yet I noticed it was free just over a week ago.

The basic premise of the story is that Brad is skint and needs money to pay his rent. To try and earn money he auditions as a strip-o-gram and then finds himself getting caught up in making porn videos.

To make matters worse he is sharing his one bed-roomed apartment with an old school friend who always wears his underwear around the flat. He never pays his way and always seems to be leeching off Brad. The only reason Brad accepts the situation is because he has a crush on him.

The writing is so-so but the abundance of sex, nudity and bulging underwear makes up for it. If you’re looking for a bit of sex and well hung guys to get off on, then you won’t be disappointed. There’s better writing out there but then you won’t be reading this for it’s literary merit.
